This unit is designed to give the student an introduction to the concept and practice of mission and its priority for the people of God. It explores the topic of mission from a biblical, theological, historical and sociological perspective. It enables the student to develop and apply concepts of mission in their local context.

Social Community Mission 1
Semester 2, 2020
Study Mode: Intensive
This unit will explore the theology and practice of social and community services as an expression of holistic Christian mission. Structural disadvantage and social issues will be examined, particularly as they relate to the delivery of contemporary social services in an Australian context. A community development framework will be applied to address complex social needs, ensuring ethical and practical issues are considered.

Community Engagement in a Globalised Environment
Semester 1, 2020
Study Mode: Online
This unit draws on the experience of Salvation Army mission and leadership and outlines the impact of global factors on ministry. It considers global issues such as intercultural practice, community development, and the interplay of development and Aid, and issues of gender. It considers theological components of global and community mission but has a strong operational and practical focus.
