How many books can I borrow and for how long?
Generally, a maximum of 10 items by be borrowed by each library member. Items from the main collection have a loan period of 2 weeks and can be renewed at the library, by phone or online, if they are not requested by another borrower.
Users receive an email reminder three days before books are due.
How do I borrow books?
A library membership is required to begin borrowing. Anyone can join the library. This membership can be completed online or in person. The online membership application can be found on the library homepage.
Reciprocal borrowing rights exist for staff and students of Eva Burrows College, to all University of Divinity college libraries; a current staff or student card is required if you wish to join these libraries. The University of Melbourne, Baillieu library also offers borrowing for all staff and students. A letter of introduction from the Library Manager is required to complete this membership.
Library members may borrow using the self-checkout service in the library or ask for assistance at the desk.
All members can reserve books online through the library catalogue or send a request to the library via email – firstname.lastname@example.org These books can be posted out via Australia post, if the member cannot come to the library. There is a maximum cost of $16.95 for postage. Return postage costs are the responsibility of the borrower.
How do I access the libraries' ebook collection?
The Eva Burrows Library owns many ebooks. These are available for use by any library member and can be found by searching the library catalogue. Please follow the instructions on the library homepage for details on how to login to EBSCO and PROQUEST ebooks, or contact the library staff for assistance.
What should I do if I want to renew my loan?
Items can be renewed by logging on to your borrower’s account through the library homepage or contacting the library. If the item has been reserved by another library member, then a renewal will not be possible and the item must be returned by the original due date.
Care of library items.
Borrowers are responsible for their loans. Lost or damaged items requiring replacement must be paid for by the borrower. Replacement costs are determined by the cost of the purchase of a new copy of the item and a processing charge per item.
Any items to be returned to the library via Australia Post are to be appropriately packed to avoid damage while in transit. Postage with tracking is recommended.
Photocopying, printing and scanning.
The library has a photocopier which will scan to a USB at no charge. Photocopying is charged at 10c per black and white A4 copy. No colour copying is available in the library.
Library staff will scan pages from books and journals upon request from library members. A Scanning Request Form must be completed for this work to be done by the library staff. A clear indication of what your require for scanning indicating chapter, page numbers or topic within the book are essential. Staff are bound by Australian Copyright Regulations when scanning. Please contact the library if you require more information.
Computers and WiFi.
All workstations in the library have internet access. You are welcome to bring your own laptop or device, WiFi is available. Library staff can provide you with the WiFi password.
