Scholarship

At Eva Burrows College we believe that education helps people realise their potential to become influential leaders who make a difference.

Eva Burrows College is investing in the next generation of leaders by offering two scholarships every year. The scholarships provide learning to people with a passion to serve on the frontline of the Army’s mission.

Eva Burrows Africa Scholarship

Purpose

To empower, encourage and equip officers and Salvationists (both men and women) in Africa to realise their potential as leaders.

Benefit

One year financial support up to AUD$25,000 in total for:

  • One recipient with up to 12 months approved study; OR
  • Two recipients with a shorter period of study

The amount covers

  • Two semesters of full-time higher education study at Eva Burrows College
  • Accommodation at Eva Burrows College during the period of study
  • One return journey economy fare to and from the recipient’s permanent home
  • Travel insurance or alternate provision for health emergencies, during the period of study
  • A modest living allowance to cover meals and related expenses, during the period of study

Eligibility

  • Be minimum 25 years of age at the time of application
  • Be an officer or soldier of The Salvation Army in Africa
  • Be an emerging leader able to demonstrate effective leadership and a commitment to ongoing development
  • Be endorsed by The Salvation Army leaders in the territory of origin
  • Be in good physical and emotional health
  • Be able to obtain the necessary travel documents from the home country, Australia and any transit countries (applicants are responsible for visa and travel document arrangements)
  • Should not be a previous recipient of any Eva Burrows Scholarship
  • Be able to meet the entry requirements of the proposed study

Eva Burrows Australia Scholarship for women

Purpose

To empower, encourage and support the development and leadership of women currently serving on the frontline of The Salvation Army in Australia.

Benefit

One year financial support for one recipient for up to AUD$25,000 which may cover a combination of education expenses towards the approved study and/or related travel, along with mentoring during the period of study.

Eligibility

  • Be minimum 25 years of age at the time of application
  • Be a citizen or permanent resident of Australia
  • Be an officer, employee, volunteer or soldier of The Salvation Army in Australia
  • Be a woman who has undertaken substantial paid and/or unpaid work in frontline Salvation Army service in the last two years
  • Be an emerging leader able to demonstrate effective leadership and a commitment to ongoing development
  • Be in good physical and emotional health
  • Should not be a previous recipient of any Eva Burrows Scholarship
  • Be able to meet the entry requirements of the proposed study
