You will explore the Bible and other sources to aid your understanding of spiritual maturity and emotional health. You will be invited to examine and apply spiritual practices to your own life to help you grow and mature as a Christian.

    Student are expected to attend weekly Zoom sessions on Tuesday evenings starting at 7.00 pm.

    We recommend that you allocate 12 hours a week for all study activities.

  • Learning Activities

    In an asynchronous environment students will engage carefully designed learning materials which may include readings, audio and video materials, a variety of learning activities, response to questions, refection upon practice. They will also attend structured synchronous online engagement sessions which will promote peer to peer engagement and learning.

    *This unit is offered at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level. Students may engage with people across both levels when this unit is delivered.

    1 x 2,100 word Seminar or Tutorial - 30%

    1 x 2,800 word Essay - 40%

    1 x 2,100 word Critical Review - 30%

  • Learning Outcomes

    Upon successful completion of this unit, it is expected that students will be able to:

    1. To reflect on, articulate and evaluate spiritual and developmental journey as a personal history of spiritual formation.

    2. Critically analyse biblical sources and other Christian texts and traditions to discern and evaluate current spiritual formation teaching and practice.

    3. Explore and evaluate personal experiences of engagement with classic spiritual disciplines.

    4. Evaluate psychosocial and emotional markers necessary for spiritual maturity and healthy Christian ministry.

    5. Construct a model of spiritual formation for your ongoing personal and vocational development.
