This training program provides a set of skills for working with clients who have gambling problems. It is an online course ideally suited to those already working as counsellors, financial counsellors or case-workers.
It will also assist other health professionals who want to develop specialised skills to support clients, and their families with gambling issues.

The CHCSS00111 Problem Gambling Skill Set is a nationally recognised qualification.
This skill set reflects the skill requirements for individuals who work with clients affected by gambling. It is ideal for individuals seeking to broaden their existing skills to include problem gambling work.
This skill set has been endorsed by industry as suitable for individuals who hold a qualification at Certificate IV level or higher in a community services related discipline OR have skills equivalent to the qualification requirement validated through a recognition of prior learning process.

The total number of units required for completion is 2 units. Students have a maximum of 6 months to complete the skill set.
Students must have access to at least three clients who gamble to harmful levels (this can include up to two who are the 'affected other' of a problem gambler) in order to complete their assessments.
