EBC’s Research Coordinator and Lecturer, Professor Glen O’Brien has been elected to the Board of Directors of the International Association of Methodist-related Schools, Colleges, and Universities (IAMSCU) for a three-year term from 2023 to 2026.
IAMSCU comprises more than 1,000 institutions in nearly 80 countries and 5 continents. It was founded in 1991 with the support of the United Methodist Church’s General Board of Higher Education and Ministry and the World Methodist Council. In its three decades, the association has evolved to become a network of networks, bringing together individuals, institutions, associations, and other partners from five continents – Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe and Eurasia, Latin America and the Caribbean, and North America. This evolutionary process culminated with the IAMSCU Conference in April 2023, held in four cities across the United Kingdom, which celebrated the 275th anniversary of Kingswood School, the first Methodist school founded by John Wesley in 1748, and brought together hundreds of Methodist educators – involved in Primary and Secondary Education, Higher Education, Theological Education, and other educational initiatives – after years of isolation as a result of the global pandemic. This significant appointment extends EBC’s ministry to a global community of educators.
Congratulations Glen!
