    Pre-reading of book review text is recommended for Undergraduate Students.

    Completion of weekly readings; Online discussions of unit material. This will include discussion of preaching videos that must be viewed prior to weekly zoom meetings.

    *This unit is offered at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level. Students may engage with people across both levels when this unit is delivered.

    1 x 1,000 word Book review - 25%

    1 x 1,500 word Sermon and critique - 25%

    1 x 2,000 word Annotated sermon - 50%

  • Learning Outcomes

    Upon successful completion of this unit, it is expected thawt students will be able to:

    1.  Describe contemporary culture and the implications for narrative preaching.

    2.  Explain the principles underlying effective preaching.

    3.  Evaluate and explore theoretical constructs that underpin a narrative approach to preaching.

    4.  Design sermons in a range of contextually appropriate styles.

    5.  Critique a sermon that communicates effectively using a narrative approach.
