Congratulations to Reverend Professor Glen O’Brien, Research Coordinator and Lecturer at Eva Burrows College, on a recent glowing review of his work John Wesley's Political World from Wesley and Methodist Studies 18:1 (2026): 91-93; probably the highest regarded journal in the field of Wesley Studies.
The reviewer, Ryan Danker, sees the book as a 'substantive' addition to the field and a 'much needed corrective' to other work. He writes, 'The quality of the work greatly outweighs my critiques... O’Brien’s scholarship is so solid and his research so adept that even if I retain my disagreement with his conclusions in [some of the] chapters, I had to assess my own perspective when faced with such high-quality scholarship.' He concludes, 'O’Brien’s work is so vital to any description of Wesley’s political theology ... a must-read for anyone serious about Wesley, early Methodism, the eighteenth century, or the development of political thought. I commend O’Brien for this solid work.'
This book is available to borrow through the Eva Burrows College library.
