Team Leader – Sydney City Salvos (SCS)

Team Leader – Sydney City Salvos (SCS)

This is an exciting opportunity for an Officer or lay leader with a proven track record in leading a missional expression.

The Salvation Army has been ministering in the inner-city of Sydney since the early 1880s, which has now grown to include the full scope of social mission, community engagement and local mission streams.

The inner-city of Sydney is a diverse community, that continues to experience significant demographic and cultural change, with 41% of residents speaking a language other than English at home (predominantly Mandarin). The area has one of Sydney’s largest Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, a high percentage of people living alone, an increased number of younger families, and a growing use of public and green-space.

The ministry potential for Sydney City Salvos is significant. The combination of Street Level Mission and Sydney Congress Hall has representation from many of these demographic, socio-economic and cultural groups. Already we have seen fruit from the collaboration of the team in these early days with 28 new decisions for Christ since January 2022.

The implementation of the new structure with one Team Leader supporting 3 streams of Faith Integration, Community Service and Operations has seen leaders and their team members released into their areas of gifting. Furthermore, there has been change in the collaboration across Social Mission, Community Engagement and Local Mission Delivery.

Having proven experience in leading missional expressions, the Team Leader role will provide spiritual, strategic and operational leadership for TSA in the inner-city of Sydney.
