You will learn the skills necessary to unpack and understand these biblical themes while discovering how they impact frontline mission, current issues, and your formation as a minister.

Teaching and learning in the unit occur through various student-centered learning experiences. Apart from undertaking assessment-for-learning tasks, students will engage with guided readings, exegetical exercises, knowledge application exercises, reflections, video lessons, scaffolded learning, etc. Online tutorials and workshops will provide spaces for peer-to-peer learning and developing discipline-specific and soft skills.

Students will participate in assessment tasks, online sessions, self-paced engagement with required online materials (readings, videos, podcasts), exercises and reflections.

Upon successful completion of this unit, it is expected that students will be able to:

1. Examine selected theological themes from the Hebrew Bible and New Testament cognisant of the social, cultural, historical and literary contexts in which they originate.

2. Critically apply a range of hermeneutical approaches in identifying and interpreting the interplay of biblical themes, their trajectories, and dissonances.

3. Interpret selected biblical texts.

4. Articulate a personal response to how these themes contribute to contemporary practice and ministry.

5. Develop a critical theological framework for the integration of biblical-theological themes.
