Who should consider this training?

We are excited to offer the Small Business unit to help build financial counselling workforce capacity in this space. This course is for Financial Counsellors and Rural Financial Counsellors working with clients who operate small businesses. The unit of study will equip participants to identify the structure and current financial position of a small business and to use this to provide information and advice as part of the delivery of financial counselling services.

Course Structure

This unit of study is nationally recognised, requiring the successful completion of one unit of competency over a three month period.

This course provides entry level small business information, demonstrating how to apply financial counselling practice to small business owners. Essentially, the principles remain the same, working with people in a vulnerable financial position and focusing on the debts at hand.

Some of the topics covered include:

* What is a small business
* Small business structures
* Corporate insolvency and how these rules apply to clients
* Tax obligations
* Legal frameworks and how they apply in Small Business
* Key financial information
* How to adapt practice
* Supporting clients to respectfully exit their business


Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements for this qualification. This course is open to Australian residents.Unfortunately, we are not registered to accept international students. The eligibility of students will be confirmed during enrolment.
