Christine has been involved in teaching, administration, and academic leadership within The Salvation Army over many years. She recently retired from active service as an officer but continues to practice as a spiritual director and pastoral supervisor and as a lecturer with Eva Burrows College. Her teaching areas include spirituality, theology, and ministry.

Her master’s thesis (2009) focused on the presence of the contemplative tradition in the history of The Salvation Army and was published as the book, Other Voices. Her PhD thesis (2022), “Challenging history and telling herstory,” explored the issue of gender inequality in Salvation Army officership and challenged the historical narrative that women were granted equality from the inception of the movement.
