One of our current Eva Burrows College students has been mentioned by a few new students as a key person who encouraged them to study with us. We checked in with Lt Edward Conteh to ask him about his own student experience and why he recommends us to others.
Being “increasingly passionate about diversity, inclusion and belonging in The Salvation Army,” Edward wants people from diverse backgrounds to be able to look at The Salvation Army and Eva Burrows College and say, “There’s a place for someone like me here.” He notes that “academic study can sometimes be challenging when you are working not only with complex theological ideas but also with academic English, writing conventions and referencing” and has appreciated the guidance and care from student support staff.
While there are multiple ways to measure diversity, 29% of our current higher ed students were not born in Australia. Perhaps this helps you see that there might be a place for you here too!
