Fiona Hills

FH

Facilitator and Assessor for Rural Financial Counselling specialisation

Diploma of Rural Business Management, Diploma of Agriculture

Fiona has been working in the rural financial counselling industry since 2007. She previously worked with the Southern Queensland service on a part time basis, with a focus on the small business programs.

Fiona has also worked overseas as a volunteer business trainer and adviser. In Vanuatu, she worked with village women to develop micro businesses, and in Ho Chi Minh City she worked with both small business owners and university students. Prior to going overseas, Fiona spent many years in Brisbane and Melbourne working as an executive manager and business consultant to large multinational companies.

Fiona finally got her MBA in in 1998, many years after first contemplating it. She also has diplomas in Agriculture and Rural Business Management, Financial Counselling and Community Services Welfare Work. Studying was always a bit of a juggling act with four daughters and busy positions, but they are now grown with terrific careers of their own.

Fiona spent a very happy period of her life as a beef cattle farmer and lucerne grower in the Lockyer Valley until the floods of 2010, after which she sold the property and moved to the Sunshine Coast where she has a couple of very special horses on a tidy five acres. Fiona still rides competitively, and spends a fair amount of her time on her horses.
