Using the Library

How do I borrow books?

A library membership is required to begin borrowing.  This membership is free and can be completed online or in person.  On-campus library visitors may borrow using the self-checkout in the library or assistance will be provided by the library staff.

If you are unable to come to Ringwood, the librarians can scan and email material (within copyright law), or can post books to you, with only the return postage cost at your expense.

How many books can I borrow and for how long?

10 items may be borrowed and are generally on loan for two weeks, however the library staff are flexible with these conditions of loan. Users receive a reminder email three days before books are due and thereafter receive overdue notices by email if applicable.

How do I access the libraries' ebook collection?

The Eva Burrows Library owns many ebooks covering a wide variety of subjects. These are available for use by any library member and can be found by searching the library catalogue.  Please follow the instructions on the library homepage for details on how to login to these ebooks, or contact the library staff for assistance.

Can I reserve books?

All library members can reserve books online via the library catalogue or send a request to the library staff via email.  These books can be collected from the library or posted out if you cannot get to the library.

Is Wi-Fi available?

Wi-Fi is available throughout the college and all computers in the library have internet access. Comfortable private study areas are available and you are welcome to bring your own laptop or device.  The library staff can provide you with the Wi-Fi password.

Is there a scan and email service?

If you are in the library, a photocopier is available which will scan to a USB at no charge.

If you are not able to visit the library the staff will scan pages from books and journals upon request and email these documents, within Copyright regulations. A Scanning Request Form must be completed for this work to be done by the library staff or by emailing library@ebc.edu.au

Where possible, a clear indication of what you require for scanning indicating chapter, page numbers or topic within the book are important. Staff are bound by Australian Copyright Regulations when scanning.  Please contact the library if you require more information.
