Eva Burrows Scholarships
“Courage is very important in leadership – courage to follow through on your dream.” General Eva Burrows
The following two scholarships reflect General Eva Burrows commitment to advance social justice, education and the development of the next generation of leaders. The 13th General of The Salvation Army from 1986-1993 she was known as the "people’s General” for her ability to connect with the vulnerable in society and engage warmly with people of all ages. These scholarships ensure General Eva’s commitment and passion for education and the development of leaders will become a lasting legacy.
Eva Burrows Australian Scholarship for Women
The Eva Burrows Australian Scholarship for Women will be awarded to a woman who has undertaken substantial paid or unpaid work for The Salvation Army in the previous two years and seeking support to develop their leadership capabilities. A scholarship of up to $25,000 AUD, for study at Eva Burrows College or another institution, will be granted to a woman who exhibits General Eva Burrows values of leadership and commitment to serving on the frontline.

Eva Burrows African Scholarship
This scholarship exists to empower and encourage Officers and Salvationists in Africa. A $25,000 AUD scholarship of up to one-year financial support for an individual African Officer, or for a group of African Officers and/or soldiers to engage in a development experience.

Specific Course Scholarships
Transurban Financial Counselling Scholarships
Train to become a Financial Counsellor and learn how to provide support, information, and advocacy to assist people in financial difficulty.
In 2019, Transurban has generously donated five scholarships for existing Salvation Army Officers or staff, to undertake CHC51115 Diploma of Financial Counselling at Eva Burrows College Vocational Training. Transurban operates the Linkt toll roads in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. This investment reflects its vision to strengthen communities through transport, by supporting a robust financial counselling sector, which it recognises is vital to building financially resilient communities and supporting people experiencing social and financial hardship. The successful applicant will receive $5,100 AUD to cover the course fees for the Diploma of Financial Counselling through Eva Burrows College.
