Howard’s ministry and leadership experience within The Salvation Army includes service in a diverse range of contexts – mostly with his wife, Robyn. He has served as a Corps officer; in a residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation context; as the Director of a clinical counselling agency; as a pastor and carer for pastors (in Canada); in strategic leadership development; in officer personnel and mission management; as Principal of Booth College in Sydney; and as Divisional Leader in Canberra.
Additionally, Howard is a Registered Psychologist with specialised interest in assessments, counselling, leadership and organisational dynamics – especially within a Christian mission environment. The completion of the Arrow Leadership Executive program has brought a sharpened focus to Howard’s personal leadership and commitment to developing effective Christian leaders.
Howard has co-created curriculum in Pastoral Care and Christian Leadership as well as extensive teaching and seminar facilitation experience in Australia, Canada, UK, USA and Sweden. Howard and Robyn also co-lead Marriage Enrichment retreats for couples.
This combination of broad experience and education has shaped Howard well for the tasks of healthy people, mission and organisational development – anchored within a Kingdom of God focus.
